Song Kol Lake is a large alpine lake and truly a gift of nature. It is located at an altitude of 3016 m above sea level, being so high, only in summer you can fully enjoy its blue, get acquainted with the life of modern nomads, live in Kyrgyz yurts and taste the national dishes of our hospitable Kyrgyz people. We learn about everyday life and Kyrgyz traditions, national games, huge flocks of sheep, horses, cows, we may meet camels and yaks. We will plunge into the habitual habitat of a nomadic people, which for decades has not lost its uniqueness.

DETAILED ITINERARY:

  • DAY 1: MANAS AIRPORT - CHONG KEMIN NATIONAL PARK

      Meeting at the airport. Departure to Chong Kemin (driving time: 3 hours). National Park is a uniquely beautiful natural zone with a length of fifty kilometers in the valley of the Chong Kemin River serves as a treasure trove of rare species of flora and fauna. Glaciers here harmoniously coexist with forest zones and steppe areas, the landscapes are natural and untouched by time. The natural park covers an area of ​​500 hectares; the height of its location smoothly increases from 1,400 to 2,800 m. After resting, a short horse ride to the panorama, where a magnificent view of the valley opened up. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

  • DAY 2: CHONG KEMIN - KYZART - SONG KOL LAKE

      Transfer to Jumgal valley to the starting point of the horse ride (driving time: 3 hours). You will have lunch in a small local house. The horseback ride to the lake will start through the pass Tuz-Ashu (3,400m). The ride will last up to 4.5 hours. The pass offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Son Kul mountains. After a short rest on the top, we will go to the yurt camp where the family will welcome you. If you like, you can drink hot tea and kymyz (horse milk) or enjoy the last lights of the day to walk around the pasture. At sunset, the whole family is getting busy. The shepherds prepare to release the herds and cows to feed them at night and the women prepare dinner in the yurt for the guests and family. Really like this moment (sunset, horses by the lake, warm yurt, beautiful views, silence). Dinner and night in yurt camp. Dinner and overnight in yurt camp. Note: the living conditions in the yurts are very traditional, which means that a person will have the opportunity to share a toilet outside the yurt and experience a real Kyrgyz way of life. Single accommodation is not available, 3-5 people in the yurt.

  • DAY 3: BATAI ARAL - TAILAK BAATYR MAUSOLEUM

      Horse ride to Batai Aral. On the northern shore of the lake is the only stone building in the entire valley - the Tailak Baatyr mausoleum, built at the end of the 19th century. This place is great for galloping horses. Overnight in yurt camp.

  • DAY 4: TUZ ASHU - NORTHWEST SHORE OF THE LAKE

      Horse ride to Tulpar Tash, is one of the most beautiful places of Song Kol lake. The luster of the surface of the lake can be seen from afar. On the shores of the lake there are burial mounds of noble leaders of nomadic tribes and stone statues of the Turks of Kir-Jol (VI-VIII centuries). Overnight in yurt camp.

  • DAY 5: FROM THE NORTHWEST SHORE TO THE SOUTH SHORE OF THE LAKE

      After breakfast in the yurt, you will be guided to the south shore of the lake. You will be able to ride along the lake and discover different yurts and get to know the nomadic lifestyle of Kyrgyz shepherds. One of the hidden secrets of Song-Kol lake is the ancient petroglyphs carved in the rocks on the top of the rolling hills. You will have a picnic on the way and be able to feel like travelers on the Great Silk road. In the afternoon, you will arrive at your yurt camp to spend the night where you will share a dinner with a local family. Overnight in yurt camp.

  • DAY 6: SOUTHEASTERN SHORE OF THE LAKE

      In the morning, we leave on horseback through the hills and visit the Tamerlan’s stones. These stones are full of legends going way back to the time of Tamerlane and Genghis Khan. A picnic lunch will be had near the Song Kol river which gives a great view of the whole lake. Don’t forget your camera. Once you reach the Kumdu Suu Jailoo you will be greeted by your hosts with bottomless cups of tea and warm yurts. Overnight in yurt camp.

  • DAY 7: SONG KOL LAKE - BISHKEK CITY TOUR

      Day of return to Bishkek (driving time (asphalt + dirt road): 6 hours). On the way we will watch the show hunting with golden eagles (Salbuurun) in Kyrgyzstan is a unique chance to comprehend all the secrets of this ancient art, adopting a thousand-year experience of hereditary nomad hunters. During the hunt, you will be able to trace and experience for yourself how a graceful, dexterous and proud bird shoots from the hand of the host to the very clouds and rapidly falls on its prey. Also, you will have the opportunity to consider the bird closer and even hold it in your arms. In the evening Bishkek city tour: the central Ala-Too square, Victory Square, National Philharmonic, Opera and Ballet Theater, the largest mosque in Central Asia. Overnight at the hotel.

  • DAY 8: BISHKEK - MANAS AIRPORT

      In the morning transfer to the airport.
